Why I Went Pescatarian…

It has now been over a month of eating a pescatarian diet. For me, this looks primary like a plant based diet, free from gluten or dairy and with minimal processed foods. I consumed local organic eggs and some form of seafood approximately three times per week, sourced locally by me or the tribe. Outside of that, I did very mindful protein pairing and supplementation.

Do I believe that red meats & poultry are bad for you? No. However the vast majority of the “meat” that our population consumes hardly represents the genetic, macronutrient, micronutrient expression of their ancient ancestors. The animal is unhealthy and it is unhealthy for us. Beyond hormones and antibiotics, animals being bred for consumption live in a constant state of trauma and stress. Just as humans store emotional traumas in our tissue, why wouldn’t we think that other animals do the same. There is also an energy carried with this. Taking the idea of “you are what you eat” one step further, I don’t want to take on that scared animal energy; quite simply because, I do not want to be just another scared animal. Look around you, those are everywhere. I want to be HAPPY, WILD & FREE!

I do intend to start introduce and sprinkle in a few other high quality animal products when & only when my body is asking for them. I believe that when we listen to our body it will indeed tell us what we need, however, we must quiet the mind first. Ideally beyond organic, these animals will live a happy, wild, and free life in their natural habitats; just like the sea food I eat. I would love to continue to source other types of meat myself however I still need to up my hunting game. Unfortunately St. Thomas isn’t littered with axis deer the same way that Lanai is. Thank you to my tribe and amazing members at the gym for sharing their bounty with me in the meantime! Thanks for listening & hopefully my self experimentation sparks something for you to discover in your own body.
